What is Narconon Vista Bay?
Narconon Vista Bay is a non-religious, nonprofit drug rehabilitation and prevention organization dedicated to eliminating drug abuse and drug addiction, restoring lives and reuniting families. Our program offers comprehensive drug rehabilitation, drug education and addiction prevention services. The Narconon program has helped hundreds of thousands of addicts to rid themselves of drug and alcohol addiction. The unique Narconon Vista Bay rehabilitation approach emphasizes all aspects of drug addiction: the physical, mental and emotional factors, as well as life skills which are crucial to remaining drug-free and happy for the long term.
Whether a person is genetically or bio-chemically predisposed to addiction or alcoholism is a controversy that has been debated for decades within the scientific, medical and addiction treatment community. One school of thought advocates the “disease concept,” which embraces the notion that addiction is an inherited disease, and that the individual is permanently ill at a genetic level, even for those experiencing long periods of sobriety. At Narconon Vista Bay, we believe that addiction is not a disease. Unlike 12-Step based treatment programs which state that you are powerless, label you an alcoholic or addict, and insist you have an incurable disease, Narconon Vista Bay treats drug and alcohol addiction for what it truly is; a physical and mental problem that has to be overcome by handling the underlying issues which led to the addiction in the first place. Our treatment is true rehabilitation that builds the confidence of the addict up and shows them that they are powerful and capable of change, not powerless over their addiction.
Not Just Another Run-of-the-Mill Rehab
Narconon Vista bay is not like any other rehabs you may have heard about or experienced. It is neither a 12-Step nor a medical or psychiatric based program. Our caring staff will help you get to the root of these underlying issues, with compassion and determination. Simply talking to our treatment staff will show you how different and effective we are. You can be assured that you or your loved one are in good hands. Narconon Vista Bay succeeds where other treatments have failed.
Freeing Your Body of Toxins and Cravings at the Cellular Level
Addicts feel bad physically due to the poisons in their body from drug use, and because their body is nutritionally deficient. Even when off drugs, an addict still typically feels terrible physically and their mind is cloudy compared to before they started taking drugs. The drug-free Narconon New Life Detoxification program rids the body of residual toxins left by drugs and alcohol. These toxins remain stored in the addicted person’s fat cells for some time, even when not actively drinking or using drugs. When triggered (by stress, physical exertion, over work, etc.) these toxins re-enter the addict’s blood stream and can cause intense cravings. Unlike other drug and alcohol rehab centers, this program does not use substitute drugs or mind-altering medications to solve the physical and mental problems caused by drug addiction. Those simply mask the symptoms of underlying issues. Instead the program emphasizes gentle exercise, good nutrition and nutritional supplement, and a thorough full-body detoxification through the use of dry-heat saunas. The unique Narconon New Life Detoxification program removes the toxins and heals an addict’s ravaged, nutritionally-depleted body.
"I feel absolutely amazing after doing the Narconon New Life Detoxification Program. I never thought I could feel this good again. Before, I thought when I was on drugs I felt good. But now I know I was just poisoning my body and that was a false feeling, induced by chemicals. Now I know that I can be happy and healthy again without drugs. I feel like I did when I was 12 years old!" R.G.
Other drug rehabilitation programs assume relapse; it's even common to hear, "Relapse is part of recovery". They teach the addict to accept failure and that once an addict, you are always an addict. This fixed idea is ingrained in the traditional rehabilitation community. When people discover Narconon Vista Bay, they are very often relieved to hear there actually is a permanent road out of drug addiction. 7 out of 10 graduates go on to live healthy, stable, ethical, productive, drug-free lives. These Narconon graduates, whether drug-free for 10, 20 or even 40 years, are living proof of the effectiveness of the Narconon Vista Bay Program.
Short Term versus Long Term Treatment
When a family seeks addiction treatment, there are many choices that must be made. And unfortunately, there is such an abundance of information that it is often overwhelming. Searching on the internet for drug rehab currently gives 31,000,000 search results. One is apt to find pros and cons to every kind of treatment, and literally millions of opinions.
Short term recovery programs normally last 28 to 30 days. For many people, the only benefit they offer is a month away from drugs. They often fit the parameters of health insurance policies but they fit the needs of very few addicts. When a person is not really addicted and a break gives them a chance to step back from the drugs and decide to change, then a short term program might help. But for most people, this is simply not enough time to recover from the devastation that addictive drugs make on the body, or to restore the life skills that enable a person to stay drug-free after finishing treatment.
Long term programs come in many forms, from a twelve-step based program with simultaneous diagnosis of secondary mental conditions to a therapeutic community. These long term drug rehabs can range from a few months to a year and a half or more for therapeutic communities. In these rehab centers, the discipline is imposed by the recovering members of the community itself, and a person works his way up to greater responsibility.
How Long is Long Enough?
According to the US National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), rehabilitation programs of at least 90 days or longer are needed to give an addicted person enough time to recover. Some philosophies believe that an addict will always be an addict and must receive continuing treatment or attend meetings for years or forever. We have developed an effective drug rehab program that can be completed in three to five months by most people. There are no substitute drugs used as treatment, there are no co-existing mental conditions diagnosed. A graduate of Narconon is not expected to attend meetings for years afterwards. Yet this program has a 70% success rate. But if you ask most rehab facilities how many people stay sober after they go home, they will state a success rate of 16 to 20%, if they decide it can even be measured
